EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE!

Image
Dear Working Mums, you can achieve 6 months exclusive breastfeeding for your little ones! INTRODUCTION: Breastmilk is the ideal food for babies. It is safe, clean and contains antibodies which help protect against many common childhood illnesses. The World Health Organisation advices that infants should be breastfed exclusively for the first six months of their lives. No other food or fluid (including water) is necessary during this period as the breast milk itself contains more than 80% of water. The benefits of exclusively breastfeeding your baby within the first six months are priceless for both the child and the mother. For example, breastfed children perform better on intelligence tests, are less likely to be overweight or obese and less prone to diabetes later in life. Furthermore, women who breastfeed also have a reduced risk of breast and ovarian cancers and it may be a method of family planning for some women. In Nigeria, most organisations grant their female employee

LETTER TO MY SON...

Image
Dear Son, You are one. Ryan is one! The big ONE. It’s funny how time flies…one minute, I’m too anxious and cannot wait to birth you, next minute, I’m planning your first-year birthday and trying to make it perfect…just for you. Please where did all the time go? It’s been quite a journey. From when we were pregnant till your birth and then, now. It’s been too many emotions packed in one, but I wouldn’t trade YOU for anything else in the world. I still look at you in awe and wonder how I got so lucky with you, a true confirmation that God really do love me…and your dad! I’ve watched you grow, from that little man who depended on us for everything, to this not-so-little man, who has a mind of his own. It’s beautiful to observe how intentional you are about what you want, how independent you can be when you want to, and how easily you warm up to everyone and light up the room with your cute smiles. God really sent me a slice of heaven in you. Thank you for the best 3

MY PREGNANCY JOURNEY - IS THE BABY HERE YET?

41 weeks and 4 days… Still no signs of labour yet…someone is getting too comfortable in my belly and Mama is getting really agitated. I cannot even lie, I must have gently tapped on my tummy to shake ‘’things’’ up a bit in there so that baby knows the whole tribe is awaiting his grand entry and courtesy demands he doesn’t keep everyone waiting for too long. Haba! Interestingly, at my last ANC date, the gynaecologist had booked me for induction on 25 th January 2018 that was if I hadn’t naturally gone on labour myself prior to this date. Apparently, it was in everybody’s interest if I did go into labour naturally and Lord did I hope I would…well, 25 th January came and I was still carrying my bump all around as usual. In fact, two days before this day, I had washed a heap of clothes, thoroughly cleaned my house and was super active as always. Mum had already come around a day before my induction appointment, so we left for the hospital together that morning. I DROVE

MY PREGNANCY JOURNEY - WHAT'S IN MY HOSPITAL BAG?

This pregnancy has made me consider many times, the need to have a vlog. I feel like I should be talking to you guys more, especially about this journey, more than I write to you about it. There’s a lot to discuss, and if I were to write about EVERYTHING, I’ll possibly still be writing about this journey when I get pregnant a second time (just kidding!). Ok, so today, let’s talk about what should be in a hospital bag. It’s a pregnancy series, so you know I am talking about a maternity bag basically. First things first, please TAKE NOTE (I just had to have that in caps) that you should start packing your maternity bag from the day you find out you are pregnant. I am not exaggerating. Stay woke! There are so many advantages to this; aside from the fact that it keeps you prepared at all times because you do not know when baby will pop out, it also gives you a long time to buy your needs little by little without breaking the bank. Don’t be like me please…we waited till we were 3

MY PREGNANCY JOURNEY - CHAPTER 4

My Pregnancy Update... Hello Guys! So, today is my due date as given by my hospital. 17:01:2018. But guess what? I am at work and still have no signs of labour at all! I’m pretty much just going about my business as usual. By calculation, I am 40 weeks and 3 days. Months into my pregnancy, I registered on an app (recommended by my boss at work) that helps me track my pregnancy journey and what to expect each day of my nine months’ journey. It’s BabyCentre.com and I strongly recommend for ALL women. Funny fact is that as at yesterday, the app shows my nine month journey was complete and I got a welcome note when I logged in … ‘’Congratulations, you are now a parent’’ and in my head, I am like, Duuuuuuhhhhh, not yet! Baby is still lounging in here oh. Please don’t leave me now my fave app friend. Lol. So what has changed since the last time I wrote… Well, I use the restroom more frequently now. I’ve lost count of how many times I pay a visit there in a day but who’s count
