MY PREGNANCY JOURNEY - CHAPTER 2

I feel the urge to write today, and I want to share with you the weirdest things I experienced during my pregnancy. Please don’t judge me… 1.        Leg Cramps – Nobody prepares you for this one. I doubt I had heard about it before my pregnancy, we only hear of stomach cramps which interestingly, I didn’t quite experience. Well, since we are now very cool friends, let me be the one to tell you about the ALMIGHTY leg cramps…During my pregnancy, I began to love stretching out whilst sleeping, it was one of the sweetest thing ever! But the moment you stretch a little too much, you immediately have this contraction in your calf. Something like a frozen bone in there. It’s so painful, there is no cure to it. You just have to endure till it wears out by itself. The first time I experienced it, I screamed so badly from my sleep and MJ was lost on how to be of help. Even I too didn’t know whether I should jump up from the bed or lie still or rub my calf. On im...

MY PREGNANCY JOURNEY - CHAPTER 1

Dear Diary, I wrote this article on the 14th of November, 2017. By this time, I was already seven months gone and expecting my cutie. Now, I'm posting this article, my cutie has arrived and is almost three months old. How time flies. I promise you that this series is an interesting one. But this article is looooooooong, so grab a pack of popcorn and a drink. Let me be the first person to tell you that PREGNANCY is beautiful! I have never doubted this, I only came to a full knowledge with this journey. Do not believe the naysayers who say otherwise. I’m not talking about the ones who TRULY go through hell to bring forth a child…I’m talking about those ones that derives joy by making you feel they are doing the most! Interestingly, I always thought I’ll have a hectic preggo journey. I thought I’ll drag my legs, have a swollen nose, face and legs, spit into cups and be an all-round mess. ‘’We’’ got pregnant earlier than we planned to, and I was still trying to adjust to b...

WHO IS ON YOUR TEAM?

You hear people say things like ‘’if you move with four billionaires, you are likely to be the fifth’’, ‘’your network determines your net worth’’ etc. Life is so funny and you may want to ignore these wise sayings. Please don’t! The secret to your open doors and potentials lies within these words of wisdom. You move with the right team, the possibility you get it right is high. You move with the wrong team, you’re on an all-time low. Thirty friends cannot walk together for thirty years…there’ll be a paradigm shift as you go along. Whilst you may discover why you do not need Mr. A in your team anymore, you may as well be awoken to the reality that you need Mr. B on your team. Excuse me, but there is no hard feelings to this! Like I always say, complacency is not an option. You did not come to this life to be mediocre. When you see people hustle their way to the top, and you mock them for being a ‘’famzer’’, you have no idea why they do what they do. And you may keep laughing ...

THE MARRIAGE SERIES 2: THE PROPOSAL

Image
LONG POST ALERT!!! I want to think that MJ’s first formal proposal was to my family; my Dad in particular. Not bad… Maybe I am a traditional person, because I had always wanted my Dad to give his blessings before we went on with the wedding plans. I see that some people just get engaged and that’s when they get families involved and then one person’s family is not totally receptive of the other, and the problems just never stops from the outset. I didn’t want that embarrassment for either of us. MJ comes from a large family and is the last child of eleven children with all his elder siblings married with children (now you have a mental picture). It is usually very difficult to warm up to such number of people at the same time due to diverse backgrounds but I must say that I had a seamless transition and in my opinion they were all receptive of me. We had built and sustained a healthy relationship with them over time and I was a regular face at family occasions and all. Li...

THE MARRIAGE SERIES 1: WHEN WE STARTED

So I’m not talking about how my husband and I met, I already wrote about that here . Today’s article is basically on when we started planning on getting married.  We got to a point in our relationship where we both realized that we wanted to be together for the long haul and forever. Note that this wasn’t based on how long we had dated (at this time, we were six years and counting). It was based on a mutual feeling and desire to live together as husband and wife, raise a family and experience life together. We had the long talk, one Easter break in 2015 (yes, and we are not getting married until, 2017! Keyword is PLAN AHEAD), middle of NYSC programme and we both decided that our wedding wasn’t taking place that year or the next. We jointly decided that we were going for an LLM (Masters in Law) degree, get a good job and then get married soon after. We had it all figured out…or so we thought. Life happened. MJ got admitted to run his LLM, I didn’t. However, my pla...

MY NEW LIFE

Image
Dear Diary, you remember I got married in April this year? Yeah, I knew you wouldn’t forget. It’s been a different school entirely. And it’s been more than I imagined it to be. Even better. But sincerely, it has come with so much responsibility, which I am still trying to wrap my head around and be on top of my game. Hubby thinks I (we) are doing well, but I think I am still struggling. Partly because I am in LAGOS! I like the part where I get to come back from work, and instead of thinking of dealing with poor networks and conversing with Bae, I get to talk to him face to face and he ‘’feels’’ me, literally. No, I’m not even writing about this part. I now have to deal with two hungry people who just got back from work. Himself and I. If I were probably home alone, I’ll sometimes just sleep off in hunger and continue my life the next morning. But now, I have to ask bro ‘’what do you want for dinner?’’. Even when deep down me , I do not really care but just want to shower and...

USEFUL TIPS AND FUN FACTS ABOUT MY TRADITIONAL WEDDING

GUUUUUYYYYYSSSSS! How have y’all been? What’s the latest at your end? Just finished the second phase of my examination, and I cannot be more thankful that it’s over…at least for now. I almost gave up at some point because it was beginning to become a burden, but all is fine now. I am a survivor. Aside the examinations, I have been dealing with my relocation to Lagos, my new home and new life, and my upcoming nuptials. You can imagine my life right now with all these to process and handle. It’s been a lot, but I’m holding on. Sometimes, I need a break and want to run away from my life, other times, the super woman in me shows up, and I show ‘’dem’’ who the boss is. Sincerely, a nice vacation wouldn’t hurt nobody at this point. Who has a spare ticket to Seychelles? Since I had my traditional wedding, I always knew I’ll do a post on a few things to do/not to do when planning a wedding. Thankfully, I have a real-life experience to share with you, and I can say I had a succe...
